For fifteen years, Micki Meng has worked as a cultural producer with some of the most interesting artists and thinkers today. She has in-depth knowledge of worldwide forward-thinking trends, and experience facilitating experimental medium to large-scale art projects from ideation to launch across major cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Istanbul.
Her experience working in an international capacity, and care for the individual throughout process, has allowed her to cultivate many strong relationships with the most talented people on the West Coast and beyond from fabricators, artists, curators, civic entities, business partners, institutions, collectors and philanthropists.
She is founder of &Art&, a partnership initiative that brings together our community as active participants of culture to give, gather, discuss, consider, protect, value, and respond to art in the Bay Area and the greater global context.
She believes in the importance of art, as a labor of intellect and skill, to effect visionary change in the status quo when made part of everyday life.
In Fall 2019, she launched a digitally native publication and site-activated support initiative for artists and art workers (theartreport.org). Her advisory council includes beloved curator Susanne Ghez (Board, NEA; co-curator Documenta 11; and retired Director of The Ren in Chicago (1973-2012); Dorka Keehn (Board, SFAC; Founder, Sites Unseen; curator for the new Warriors stadium); Nion McEvoy (Founder, McEvoy Foundation for the Arts; Chronicle Books; and Chair, Smithsonian); Laura Owens (Artist); Daphne Palmer (Gallerist); Franklin Sirmans (Director, Perez Art Museum); Hank Willis Thomas (Artist); Robin Wright (Vice Chair, SFMOMA); and Sonya Yu (Board, Hammer Museum).
She is also founder of Friends Indeed Gallery (friendsindeed.art) with Eric Li (Creative team, MOMA NY) and Nazli Ercan (Designer, Whitney Museum of American Art) and Patrons for Experimental Progress (PEP) across Hawaii, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Aside from art, her other personal interests include human rights activism, food as a coded language of love, environmentalism, and road trips to surf destinations with her unwed husband, son, and dog, a rescue pug mix named Mr. Chow.
